Following a successful summer for the NYU Graduate Film Program, this year's Venice Film Festival has seen alumni walk off with a number of major awards.
Recent Grad Film alumnus Etienne Kallos has won the Corto Cortissimo Lion for Best Short Film with 'Eersgeborene' (First Born). Exploring identity and sexuality within the Afrikaans minority culture of post-Apartheid South Africa, the film was Etienne's thesis project.
In addition, Grad Film alumnus and recent addition to our faculty Todd Solondz won the Golden Osella for Best Screenplay, for his new feature 'Life During Wartime.'
The Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world, and among the most prestigious on the festival circuit.
